Default Random Valentine's Day Poetry

Dear Friend
Dedicated to my friends, on and off the Guru forums.

It isn't obvious at first,
The other person seems annoying or obnoxious.
Somehow you end up talking though,
And you've got more in common than you think
The traits that you thought were annoying,
Become endearing qualities,
And time passes by,
And before you know it, you're close friends.

Dear friend,
The times we've had together will always stick in my memory,
Even when our time has past.
Immortality is found in the heart of friendship.

Sometimes flaws return to just being flaws,
And we have our little spats.
Maybe a remark in jest,
Becomes a hateful insult?
But anger gives way again,
And your true charm shows.
Time passes by,
And before you know it, you're close friends.

Dear friend,
People sometimes grow and go their separate ways,
That's a fact of life, isn't it?
Even so, the joy of friendship far outweighs the pain of parting.

We're not really much alike after all,
And it shows as we grow.
The most powerful bonds we have, though,
Are the memories we've forged with time.
We may not understand each other all of the time,
Our interests have changed so much!
And yet the time passes,
And we're somehow still close friends.

Dear friend,
We could never speak to each other again,
And I want you to know;
Even so, the joy of friendship far outweighs the pain of parting.
And even though our time may past,
Your memory lives on in my heart.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Alabaster? o_O
I'll keep it in mind.

I'm not sure where the idea for this poem came from, but I wrote it out anyway o_o

Upside-Down Valentine's Day

Do you not believe that it'd be great,
If every so many years...
We decided to celebrate,
Upside-Down Valentine's Day instead?

Give candy and flowers to the ones you despise,
And indifference to those you love,
Don't you think it would be wise,
To have Upside-Down Valentine's Day instead?

Oh what a way to show without pain,
To give a black rose to the one whose affection you don't return,
Without all the heartbreak and emotional drain,
On Upside-Down Valentine's Day instead?

Until, that is, you receive your own,
And you can almost not bear to hold in the tears,
That you'll be sitting all alone,
On this Upside-Down Valentine's Day.

Another random poem! Not at all inspired by personal events.
Oh, and I stuck alabaster in it x_X

Passion, Lust, and Love: A Love Letter

In our youth, we had to part ways.
Fate does not always work out as you wanted it to.
So we swore that no matter where we went,
No matter who we met, and no matter what we did,
That we would always be together.

But that was passion, not love.
Who were we to make such an oath?
Who were we to believe our childish ardour,
Could ever be love?
Back then, I did not, I could not, love you.

As we grew, this ardour evolved.
Our bodies and minds took on a mature shape.
So we swore on that night, together,
As we shared a single bed,
That we would always be together.

But that was lust, not love.
Who were we to make such an oath?
Who were we to believe our teenage passions,
Could ever be love?
Back then, I did not, I could not, love you.

Since then, I've had a lot of time to think.
I've indulged passions and lust with many others.
The flames I thought were love always seem to burn out.
And I reflected; Could I ever love?
As far as I knew, I did not, and could not, love.

And then it came to me,
An image of a candle burning brightly in my mind,
And in the flames, I saw you again.
I finally understand, I can love.
I did not before, but I love you.

Love is not passion, nor lust,
Love can not be carved out, like an alabaster wall.
Love can not be extinguished once ignited,
Love can not be diminished, nor divided.
I finally understand that I love you.

Do not think that you have to respond,
There are no strings at all attached.
I care for you deeply, and simply had to say it.
And that's what love is about, isn't it?
I did not before, but I love you.

Wherever you may go, whatever you may do,
Whatever feelings you may share with others.
I swore back then, and I do so again now,
That even if we aren't together,
I will always love you.

And this time I understand it,
And this time I mean it.

Wow this is some deep stuff.

I tend to create a see-through surface as to speak.

The reader determines how deep the message is themselves.

But recently my poems have been filled with teddy-bears and rainbows...

Good stuff.
